I'd like to know what the purpose is of listing the ambulance calls in the paper. Every day it just says "medical emergency," the time, date, and an address. I'd think that space could be better used for more Lawrence news.

For many readers, ambulance and fire calls are important Lawrence news. While many of the ambulance calls are for medical emergencies, the listing also regularly contains calls for vehicle accidents, injuries in fires, falls, and patients being transported from Lawrence to hospitals in other cities. Because ambulances usually run with sirens and lights, many residents see or hear them, and are curious about what is happening.
