What are the white mushrooms I see growing in everyone's yard? And are they bad for the yard?

Bruce Chladny, Douglas County Horticulture Extension Agent, said wild mushrooms will grow wherever there is fungus activity. He said people often see a fairy ring, a kind of mushroom that grows in a circle or ring.

Even though the wild mushrooms don't hurt the soil or grass, he said people shouldn't eat them without checking to see if they are edible and nontoxic.
