Wasn't Adams Alumni Center built off-campus because drinking wasn't allowed on campus? If so, why is drinking now allowed?

State law generally prohibits drinking on university campuses. But a provision allows a university president or chancellor to allow alcohol when it's used for fund-raising.

In the case of football tailgating at KU, the athletics department has designated certain "Proud to be a Jayhawk" areas where athletes and other workers will solicit donations. The money which will be mailed back to the KU Endowment Association will go for the marching band. Other benefactors may be determined later.
