With the Kansas Department of Transportation survey that was conducted last week, what about the people who don't drive outside of Lawrence? Are they going to get a say about future road construction, too?
KDOT spokesman Marty Matthews said the origin and destination study primarily was conducted to identify commuter traffic patterns. He said the study will be used to help determine transportation needs but is not the sole factor.
Before any major construction project, the department has public hearings to gauge public opinion, Matthews said.
