Why is the Lawrence Aquatic Center not open until 1 p.m. any day? Why is there such a great amount of time between swimming lessons and open pool swimming? Can anything be done about that?
Ernie Shaw, the superintendent of facilities and maintenance for the city's Parks and Recreation Department, relayed the following schedule:
Monday through Saturday:
5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.: Aqua-Hawks, master swimming practices.
Monday through Friday:
9 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.: Instructional swim lessons.
10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.: Lap swimming.
Monday through Sunday
1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.: Open swim.
