Why did the Kansas University athletics department sell general admission tickets to the KU-Nebraska game on Jan. 17? It is my understanding that they do oversell the fieldhouse. It was crowded, and people were being run out of their seats because they had general admission tickets and had no place to sit.
KU athletics officials insist they do not oversell the fieldhouse. The problem is spillover.
"Our ushers have a hard job," said Darren Cook, KU's director of facilities. "They do the best they can, but it's human nature that people don't want to sit as close as the seats are marked. It's just hard to get people to sit tighter in a GA section."
About 10,500 of the fieldhouse's 16,300 seats are reserved.
