What are the big white birds I see flying over Lawrence?
Dave Williams, a Lawrence-area bird watcher, says 99 percent of them are Franklin gulls.
"They roost out at Clinton (reservoir) by the thousands at night," he said. "In the morning, they feed along the Kaw River and then, in the late afternoon, they start working their way back to Clinton."
I heard Kansas football coach Terry Allen advised his players that drinking Schnapps would be good for them before a game, and if they wanted to carry on with that he would support it 100 percent. Is that true?
