Why can't we have the Band Day parade after the football game?
Tom Stidham, associate director of bands at Kansas University, said there were several reasons why there can't be a parade after the Sept. 15 KU-Wyoming game.
"One is traffic considerations," he said. "After the game, there's a lot of traffic. Transporting the kids downtown and getting the KU kids downtown the traffic problems are enormous."
He also said high school band members and directors might not want to march in a parade after a morning rehearsal and halftime performance.
The parade was canceled this year after a TV contract dictated the game would begin at 11:30 a.m. KU officials said the kickoff was too early to conduct a parade and rehearsal that morning.
