I really enjoy the new Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center. Will the lap lane lines remain the same when school starts?
Jimmy Gibbs, aquatic supervisor for Lawrence Parks and Recreation, said the "short-course" or 25-yard season will begin after Labor Day. At this time, the lanes will be switched from their current 50-meter configuration to 25-yard lanes. "This will allow enough lanes for our competitive teams, the school district and public swimmers to use the facility at the same time," Gibbs said.
Currently, the competitive pool at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center is available to the public from 5:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Sunday.
