For the Baldwin Creek sewer district, why aren't they taking any bids for the job?
Keith Browning, Douglas County's engineer and Public Works director, said construction plans are completed for Baldwin Creek No. 1 sewer district, northwest of Lawrence, near Wakarusa Drive and Sixth Street. He said the county soon will begin advertising for bidders.
Earlier this month, the county commission directed Browning to waive the purchasing policy for soliciting proposals for construction inspection services.
Browning said the county entered into a contract with Landplan Engineering because the firm has been involved with the project since its start.
