I know you can't carry a concealed weapon in Lawrence, but what about unconcealed weapons, like a gun or a knife in a holster, is that illegal?

Carrying a concealed weapon is illegal throughout the state except by law enforcement officials. Carrying a weapon that isn't concealed isn't illegal, but there are stipulations, Lawrence Police Sgt. Mike Pattrick said. Lawrence city code prohibits people from carrying firearms or knives with blades longer than 3 inches "in or near" any bar or tavern, Pattrick said. Possessing a deadly weapon in the vicinity of a tavern is a misdemeanor.
