Sound Off

Is it true that dogs aren't allowed at Clinton Lake? A couple of days ago there was a letter to the newspaper stating that someone was told they couldn't have their dog at the lake. I have seen signs posted that state "No dogs on the beach," yet in other areas they state that dogs must be leashed. Are they allowed in some areas or not allowed at all?

The only area at Clinton Lake that excludes dogs is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' swimming beach.

In Clinton State Park, all pets must be in compliance with the strict leash laws.

"Pets must be on a 10-foot, hand-held leash. They must be under the direct observation of the owner at all time," state park manager Jerry Schecher said. "You can't chain your dog at the camp and go boat. We very strictly enforce the leash law."
