Recently, someone was allowed into Lawrence schools during the school day to solicit retirement planning business from teachers and staff. I'd like to know if the district authorizes this, and if it sells or gives away lists of district employees, home phone numbers and addresses?

Julie Boyle, the district's communications director, said board policy stipulates that inquiries for building or districtwide distribution of information targeting students or staff must be approved by the superintendent and processed by the communications office. It also states that information of a commercial nature is not suitable for dissemination.

"Commercial sales to staff are not permitted during the school day. The district does not sell employee lists," she said.
