A neighbor's car is always blocking our mailbox so we get notices that say the approach to your mailbox should be kept clear of snow, vehicles and other obstacles. Why do we have to be penalized for mail delivery because someone else is parking there?

Lawrence Postmaster Bill Reynolds said that if a mail box is just blocked occasionally the carrier will continue to deliver. But if it is blocked consistently, the homeowner is notified to see if he or she can get the vehicle moved. In neighborhoods where parking is a problem, the post office suggests installation of a neighborhood box unit, which will be the delivery point for a dozen or more customers. For more information, contact the city's postal station managers: Bill Lawrence downtown at 843-1681 and Ron McKay at the Jayhawk station on 31st at 843-2330.
