Where and when will flu shots be available for people on Medicare? It seems to me as though it's getting late.
The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department does not yet have its supply of flu vaccine, said Barbara Schnitker, director of nurses. When the vaccine arrives, a schedule for shots will be publicized.
The shots then will be given to different groups of people at different times because of a nationwide shortage of the vaccine. The first group to be allowed to get the shots will be those older than 65 years old, Schnitker said. That would include the patients receiving Medicare.
The second group will be younger people who are at risk because of chronic health problems such as diabetes. Health care workers will be next, followed by the rest of the public.
