<EM>Can you print a list of all of the Kansas University chancellors from past to present with their time in office, their beginning salary and their ending salary? I was just curious as to what they were making back then.</EM>

The first KU chancellor was R.W. Oliver, 1865-1867. University Archives has no information about his salary.

  • John Fraser's annual salary was $3,000 in 1867; $3,000 his last year, 1874.

  • James Marvin's salary was $3,000 in 1874; $2,500 his last year, 1883.

  • Joshua Lippincott's salary was $2,500 in 1883; $3,000 his last year, 1889.

  • Francis Snow's salary was $4,000 in 1890; $4,000 his last year, 1901.

  • Frank Strong's salary was $4,325 in 1902; $6,500 his last year,1920.

  • E.H. Lindley's salary was $10,000 in 1920; $8,000 his last year, 1939.

  • Deane W. Malott's salary was $10,500 in 1939; $13,500 his last year, 1951.

  • Franklin D. Murphy's salary was $15,000 in 1951; $22,000 his last year, 1960.
