Why is the Douglas County Treasurer's office advertising so much in the newspaper, and who is paying for the advertisements? Are the satellite offices not getting as much revenue as expected?
The Douglas County Treasurer's office has been advertising its two new satellite locations in Baldwin and in a strip mall in South Lawrence near the intersection of 27th and Iowa streets, at 2708 W. 27th.
"It's just to let the public know we have these offices open," Douglas County Treasurer Pat Wells said.
Money for the ads comes out of the county's general fund.
Wells said the ads are not an indication the satellite offices are floundering. "It is going to take awhile for the satellite office to catch on with the people," Wells said. "Both satellites are doing as we expected they would be doing at this time."
