Tom Bracciano, the Lawrence public school district's director of facilities and operations, said arrangements were being made to clear debris and a shed at that location.
He said a small white building on the property had asbestos-based siding that must be disposed of properly. A row of cedar tree stumps and piles of cut branches will be removed, he said.
The property is owned by the district and had been earmarked for athletic fields.
"At this point, we're making arrangements to get the site cleared. It will be maintained as an open site," Bracciano said.
