We live on N. Seventh St., 2/10 of a mile outside city limits in Roanoke subdivision. We have an elderly man in our neighborhood who shoots squirrels with a .22-caliber rifle. Is this legal? If not, who can I contact?

It is legal to shoot wildlife as long that person lives outside the city limits or has permission of the land owner. The animal also must be in season. For example, people legally can shoot squirrels now to December.

If people have concerns, please call the Sheriff's department at 832-5352 during business hours and either a deputy or the wildlife and parks department will look into the situation.
