When is the meeting for parents about keeping ninth-graders in junior high?

Margy Rose and Marcia Riley, both of Lawrence, responded to the school board's decision to schedule a summit in August on the future of junior high schools by organizing a group to lobby against movement of ninth-graders to the high schools.

Shifting students in the ninth grade to Lawrence High School and Free State High School was one of the ideas offered by a facilities committee to deal with crowding at the district's four junior highs.

The opposition group's first meeting is 7 p.m. July 18 at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
