We were downtown recently and noticed that a number of new, gaudy, yellow newspaper dispensing machines for The Hawk Sheet have been put on Massachusetts Street. Doesn't the city regulate placement of private business distributing machines downtown and shouldn't they somehow conform with the beauty of downtown? I'm really surprised they were allowed to be put down there.
"We do regulate the location of the racks," City Manager Mike Wildgen said. "They are allowed in the right of way and are only placed in certain areas near the corners, although a few show up in other locations. One was placed near Sixth and Vermont and was removed. We don't regulate aesthetics."
