On Election Night, I saw several young children in roped-off areas at the Douglas County Courthouse where ballots were being counted, and they were looking at the ballots and carrying stuff to the back room. I don't think children should have been allowed back there. Who let this happen and why?
County Clerk Patty Jaimes said the grandchildren of one of the election workers were asked to help. She said the children were looking at the ballots to see whether there were any write-in candidates because those names are recorded. Jaimes said it had nothing to do with the official ballot counting of the candidates who had filed for office.
