Q: Why doesn't the Journal-World list Sallie Mae on its stocks of local interest in the business section?

Effective July 31, Sallie Mae Holding Corp., the parent company of Sallie Mae, was renamed USA Education Inc. The name change reflected Sallie Mae's merger with USA Group of Indiana. Though the name has changed, the company still trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the SLM ticker symbol. The newspaper will add USA Education, which has operations in Lawrence, to the list of local interest stocks that appears inside the business section every day.
