Where can I get my well water tested?

Richard Ziesenis, director of environmental health for the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, said his office offers water testing for county residents for a $25 fee.

"We need to come out to the house, and we have sterile containers that we use," Ziesenis explained. "There's a procedure we need to follow. We can test it for bacteria and for nitrates, the two most common contaminants."

He said to call the department at 843-3060 to set up an appointment for a well water test.
