V. Davis

V. Jean Davis, 85, of Lawrence, formerly of Williamstown, Topeka and Lecompton, died Monday, July 9, 2018 at Brandon Woods Care facility in Lawrence. She was born March 8, 1933 in Rogers, AR, the daughter of Leo Leroy and Myrtle Addaline Huffman Skinner. She attended Highland Park High School in Topeka. Jean worked as a sales clerk for Roy Frey Western Wear and had also worked as an aide at Aldersgate Village, both in Topeka, retiring in 1979. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence and a member of the Great Mom Club. She was married to Thomas Guy on April 22, 1951, they later divorced. She married Ralph F. Davis on May 26, 1977 in Topeka, he preceded her in death on February 5, 1999. Survivors include, three daughters, Debbie J. (Stan) Spreer, Vickie S. Harding, and Loretta (Dennis) O’Trimble, all of Lawrence, one brother, James Skinner, Colorado Springs, CO, two sisters, Rowena Turner, Garden City, Carol Manion, Topeka, seven grandchildren, Jennifer Price, Jeff Spreer, Kelly Beth Crotts, Joey Harding, Samuel O’Trimble, Heather Parton, Christopher Porter, seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Bedford, Cameron Bedford, Jordan Spreer, Megan Spreer, M.J. Crotts, Jasmine Brown and Isaac Brown. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita E. Parton, and two brothers, Cletus Skinner and Gary Skinner. Jean’s family wants to extend their gratitude to the entire care team at Brandon Woods, Heartland Hospice and the many doctors assisting in her excellent care.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 16, 2018 at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel in Topeka. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jean’s wish for memorials to be given for her great-grandson, M.J. Crotts muscular dystrophy treatments and made payable to Kelly Beth Crotts in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O.
