Larrie and Brilla Scott, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 23, 2017. Charles “Larrie” Scott and Brilla Ann Highfill were married in 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield, Kansas, while both were students at Southwestern College, Winfield. The Scotts were teachers at Winfield High School before moving to Lawrence in 1966 with their fouryearold son, Eric. Larrie taught auto mechanics and coordinated the driver education program at Lawrence High School for 32 years. Following his retirement, he drove the courtesy van for Dale Willey Automotive for 12 years. Brilla was a teacher at West Junior High School and Lawrence High School, principal of West Junior High, and retired as state executive director for United School Administrators of Kansas. She completed her career as state executive director for the Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel. The Scott family celebrated with a dinner at J. Wilson’s in Lawrence on August 19. Family members attending were their daughterinlaw, Diane Cole Scott, Lawrence, and their four grandchildren: Faryle Scott, Overland Park; Colter Scott, Lawrence; Calihan Scott, Tonganoxie; and Brogan Scott, Lawrence. Larrie and Brilla’s son, Eric, died in December 2016. Siblings who attended included: Carra Scott Gillespie, Wichita; Ken (Kay) Highfill, Lawrence; Jerry (Betty) Highfill, Cary, North Carolina; and Trudy Highfill Shirley, Lawrence.
