People who would post that kind of thing to Facebook are attention-seeking dramamongers.

Personally, I don't think I will post on facebook if I want to kill myself knowing not too many of them really cares if I die or alive.

Don't use Facebook, it's pathetic.

Overreacting usually makes things worse. It makes sense to take a cautious approach. People don't appreciate"friends" who force them to deal with a usually incompetent medical or legal bureaucracy--especially the complete sick jokes of available local services. If the threat seemed imminent, I might act more quickly.

Now, I would do all of the above and more. I had a friend who posted about her depression regularly. She had gotten mixed up in drugs and made some pretty poor life choices. As a result she lost many friends and family members. Many of the people left were fed up with her "whining" and told her it was up to her to change her life. She died January 2010 as a result of suicide. Looking back we all would have done things differently. There is nothing more painful than loosing a loved one to depression. I now realize that you can never be cautious enough when it comes to suicidal comments.
