well, it's early yet,but I took the dog out. She was happy about that. Fetched the paper, too. I fetched the paper, that is. The dog only gets it on Sunday.
I put makeup on before leaving the house.
Added some raisins to the lemurs' gruel.
Allowing my annoying and idiotic coworkers to live another day.
autie. my dog likes the sporting goods flyers in the sunday paper. she's scouting for a good lookin' ball purchase. she likes to run to kc & swing into dick's. cain't say that I cottin to that very much at all..
Yeah, I freed a dog during my walk this morning. The poor guy was trapped in a backyard and trying to dig a hole under the fence to get out, so I just unlatched the gate for him so that he could run free.
Combed out both cats; they really liked it and I'll like it later because less hairballs!
Were you in the catacombs at the time?
now that was funny
Alice Cooper for President!!
Opening doors for "little old ladies" is part of the same offensive and discriminatory set of social norms that promotes the domestic violence the subject of this article is protesting. No one deserves to be stereotyped as a" little old lady" on the basis of the first impression by some backwoods guy who was raised to be a chauvinist. To open the door for a stranger requires standing too close to them and violating their physical space. It's an aggressive and presumptuous act I have always detested. It's quite prevalent in illiberal, prejudiced Lawrence Lawrence. In fact one feels quite mobbed and molested by uncultured, harassing strangers who give no thought to disturbing others' privacy and offending their dignity. Insensitive !!
Bah! That's just gory. And your Alice Cooper bit wasn't very misogynistic.
She was a girl from Birmingham
She just had an abortion
She was a case of insanity
Her name was Pauline, she lived in a tree
She was a no one who killed her baby
She sent her letters from the country
She was an animal
She was a bloody disgrace
some band - some song
That's world-class misogyny right there, buddy.
If you want to hear world class misogyny check out some Insane Clown Posse tunes. I couldn't stop laughing.
"No one deserves to be stereotyped as a" little old lady""
How about the guy that shops at the Mass Dillons? He certainly dresses like a little old lady, but the beard sort of destroys the illusion.
I really hope my sarcasm detector is just broken......
social, do you know equalaccessprivacy and goodcountrypeople? You all should get together some time & do a group grouse.
OH YES, I DO IT UNCONSCIOUSLY DAILY!!
I think what he meant was his buddies get him drunk and... wait, nevermind.
When we're keeping score about acts of so-called kindness we're obviously not being very authentic or perceptive. Some days the best one can do in a place like Lawrence is to set boundaries as civilly as possible with the completely clueless and unaware. It's hard to want anything but distance from abusers.
I gathered up some extra school supplies to donate to a local school supply drive in my town. One of the things I think is hard for me is to look outside of my own little box and my own little family and do things for other people. Because I'm so bad about it I constantly try to find ways I can impact other people's lives such as sending a card or making a meal for someone who has had surgery. I think there are people out there that are just naturally good about being thoughtful and it is something I wish I was better at.
Actually, I did. My lab was very interested in my evening martini olive. So, I let her have it.
I don't know if she liked it but she choked it down.
What's in it for me?
Not a put-down to the commenters -- because most of you are A Nonny Mouse and it doesn't bug me that way -- but man, it annoys me when people blow their own horn. I have a friend who has earned a truckload of money in recent years, and he does spend a portion of it in various philanthropic ways of his choosing -- and that's great and all, but then he gets on Facebook or email and tells us about what he's doing. He's even posted links to articles showing how generous he's been. I pondered for a little while whether to tell him how off-putting that is, but I think I've finally decided not to say anything. I've questioned myself -- why does it bother me so much? Am I envious of his wealth or of his freedom to give financial help to those in need? After due consideration, I think the answers are no and no. I am just annoyed when he feels the need to tell us about it. I'm weirdly old-fashioned and it just seems ... ill-bred. Is it weird that his acts would have more value for me if I didn't know about them? (Yeah, that sounded totally crazy.....)
Can't talk about it, wouldn't be right.
Least that's what my religion taught me---when I was religious.
But I still won't talk about it.
