There are many ways to tie a necktie. However I've only learned the Windsor knot which is the most common.I don't know how to tie a bow tie. Guess I just never was that much of a nerd.
If you want to know more knots than you ever thought possible, check out the Ashley Book of Knots.
I had to learn how when my son was in boy scouts in order to teach him !!
It depends on how old you are. Today, smaller knots rule (half windsor). Old farts tend to tie knots so big and fat that they would choke a horse (Triple windsor).
LJW should get an award for best polls ever.
Silly me. It's not the Windsor I've been tying. I got my knots mixed up.
That's what she said.;)
OK, big pet peeve! When you wear a tie, the bottom "point" of the tie should be at your belt. Not above, not below. Right at the belt line. I swear, every time I see someone with a tie three inches above their belt, I want to grab them and re-tie it for them!!!/rant
My husband could tie one but it never looked quite right and as neat as he wanted it...until he started using the instructions in our son's NJROTC Field Manual. Now it's perfect every time.
No, but I know how to make a noose out a bedsheet. I hang my guitars from the ceiling every time their necks break. 2 so far.
