You might think the folks at Right Between the Ears are getting a little sad that President Bush's time in office is starting to wind down. After all, he's provided a lot of fodder for the radio comedy troupe.

But the group has high hopes that the next guy - or gal - will provide just as many gaffes as Bush.

Right Between the Ears is back at it again Saturday night, with shows at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Liberty Hall, 642 Mass.

In this week's Pulse Podcast, writer/producer Darrell Brogdon and cast member Kip Niven talk about their creative process, the group's new independence from Kansas Public Radio and the introduction of special guest star Jayni Carey of "Jayni's Kitchen" to this season's show.

After that, hear about some of the other events going on in Lawrence this weekend in our weekly Best Bets feature.

You might think the folks at Right Between the Ears are funny. But they are not.

And talking about not funny... "special guest star Jayni Carey of "Jayni's Kitchen"" public access show = star? WTF?

Ooooooh, they have a chef on RBTE this week? Maybe they can rip off the Schweaty Balls (Google it...it's funny, when SNL does it) sketch from SNL this week!

I'm just hoping that maybe there will be some Lewinsky jokes. Because they're so timely. Oh, and some Schwarzenegger jokes, because they never, ever, ever get old.

If there was ever a show that made me want to stop being a KPR member, it's this one. My god, what a colossal waste of cash and airtime this is.

Agreed on the old news nature of the writing/production. By the time a show "airs," the political jokes are three generations old.

I think the popularity of this show and "Imagination Workshop" had more to do with supporting local artists instead of actual talent and humor.

Does this group pay the LJW to be "showcased" online!??? News......it is not!
