Richard Renner works with a bunch of clowns. And fire-eaters. And tightrope walkers. And mimes.
As owner of Vodvill Entertainment, Renner serves as an agent for dozens of variety performers.
He's also a clown himself - the Vodvill Klown, to be exact. He'll perform Sunday in Lawrence as part of the River City Reading Festival.
In this week's Pulse Podcast, Renner talks about life as a clown, the status of slapstick entertainment and why it is that so many people are afraid of clowns.
After that, hear about some of the other events going on in Lawrence this weekend in our weekly Best Bets feature. You can also hear a song from the Kansas City Chorale, which is performing tonight at the Bales Organ Recital Hall at Kansas University.
