With a cast of 20 Kansas University students, and narration and songs by a Gypsy poet and her troubador, it's clear "A Greater Release" isn't your typical play.
But its eccentricity runs deeper than that. That's because the play, by KU student Adam Burnett, is being produced by himself, outside any constraints a theater company might present.
"A Greater Release," which Burnett describes as a "theatrical tapestry" that weaves in the tales of several travelers, is the focus of this week's Pulse Podcast. Burnett talks about the play, and cast members Chris Luxem and Alicia Gian perform two original songs.
The performances of "A Greater Release" are a 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday, both at Oldfather Studios, 1621 W. Ninth St.
Also, as always, hear about some of the other events going on in Lawrence this weekend in our weekly Best Bets feature.
