If jazz is dying, you can't tell it by going to Kansas University's Murphy Hall this week.
Around 100 junior high and high school students are honing their skills at the Midwestern Music Camp's Jazz Workshop. They'll perform at 1:30 p.m. today in Room 130 in Murphy.
This week's Pulse Podcast focuses on the future of jazz. Dan Gailey, director of KU's jazz studies program, and student musicians Addison Frei (Lawrence High School) and Emily Foerschler (Free State High School) talk about young people's interest in jazz, and the future of the genre in general.
And, as always, you can hear about some of the other events going on in Lawrence this weekend in our weekly Best Bets feature.
