You could say DBR and the Mission are a little of a lot of things - funk, rock, classical, hip-hop.
Or, you could just say they have a sound of their own. After all, how often will you see violin players rocking out on stage with a DJ?
The composer DBR - whose full name is Daniel Bernard Roumain - brings his band to Lawrence for a show at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Lied Center. Called "A Civil Rights Reader," the concert pays tribute to four civil rights leaders for Black History Month.
Roumain is the featured subject of this week's Pulse Podcast, and the accompanying version with photos.
Also, we highlight some of this weekend's other events going on in Lawrence.
