• Anticipating another round of budget cuts, the Kansas Board of Regents on Thursday approved a 6 percent tuition increase for many students at Kansas University.
• Even though funding was stripped from an appropriations bill, members of the Kansas congressional delegation on Thursday remained confident that a proposed National Bio- and Agro-Defense Facility would still be built in Manhattan.
• A local crime-fighting organization has announced a reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect wanted for an alleged attempted murder. Lawrence police are trying to track down James McAdams, 19, of Lawrence.
• For the five Lawrence High golfers playing in Thursday’s Kansas Junior Golf Association Northeast Section tournament at Alvamar Public, the event delivered a relaxed and laid-back environment, as the Lions were able to enjoy their home-course advantage.
