Police make arrests in connection with attempted murder

• Police arrested a 15-year-old Lawrence boy and his 60-year-old father early Tuesday on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder in connection with an attack on the boy’s mother.
• City commissioners said Tuesday that concerns are mounting about the city’s lone homeless shelter.
• A group of 26 students from the charter school are spending this week on the Kansas University campus after the school adopted KU for a class project.
• A memorial service is set for today to honor former KU athletic director Bob Frederick, who died Friday at the age of 69.
