House will not override coal plant veto

Coal plant debate: House speaker Melvin Neufeld on Wednesday declared there would be no attempt to override Gov. Kathleen Sebelius' veto of legislation that would have authorized construction of two 700-megawatt coal-fired power plants.

Tornado sirens: Douglas County Emergency Management and county commissioners decided sirens will sound the next time the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for Douglas County.

Papa Kenos closed: Until Papa Keno's owner Greg Keenan can pay his taxes, the pizzeria downtown and in Overland Park will be closed.

Jayhawk looking flashy: A fiberglass Jayhawk has been revamped after an act of vandalism has placed it out of sight for months.
