A dreary Friday is in the forecast. Drizzle, fog and cloud cover will continue for the first part of the day before a glimpse of sunshine is possible in the afternoon. We will hit 44 degrees for a high with northwest winds at 5 to 12 mph. Tonight the clouds will continue to break as we drop off to a cold 29.
In news: Lawrence Public Library checks out its one-millionth item for the year; Gov. Sebelius says Sunflower Electric Power Corp. will likely be able to build its three new coal-fired plants near Holcomb; and, Nathan Padilla hits a late free throw to give Lawrence High a victory in the City Showdown.

After a soaking rain Wednesday, we'll have some sunshine today. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast as the temperature makes it up to 54 for a high. The winds will remain out of the south at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight there is a slight chance for a few wet snowflakes with the temperature dropping off to 32.
In News: A witness in a Lawrence battery case is shot in Ottawa, heavy snow misses Lawrence, and Kaun gets healthy in return to KU basketball's starting lineup.

The clouds will thicken tonight, and there is a chance for showers beginning late tonight. The temperature will drop to 36 degrees.
