A mother charged with endangering her infant child, who allegedly died as the result of child abuse by the mother's boyfriend, made a brief court appearance Friday to schedule a plea. A Lawrence man receives nearly five years in prison for a shooting last year at a South Lawrence apartment complex. Lawrence City Officials try to crack down on problem party houses, but they still leave students and landlords wanting more. Former Lawrence City Manager Mike Wildgen will collect his annual salary, plus a three percent raise for another year. A long anticipated, highly acclaimed film by a local film maker Kevin Willmott, premiered in Lawrence Friday night. Haskell's Film Festival had a big night as key note speaker Wes Studi was in attendance. As many KU students gear up for fun in the sun, one group of students hopes to make a difference during their spring break vacation. In the history of the Big 12 Conference there have been nine championship tournaments. In those nine tournaments the Kansas Basketball team is a perfect 9-0 in its first round games. The Saturday morning quarterfinals got underway with Texas Tech looking to upset top seeded Texas. Texas A&M and Colorado hooked up in the second game of Saturday afternoon's session. The KU softball team opened up play as the host of this weekends Jayhawk Classic.
