Plans are budding for a spruced up downtown Lawrence. A brighter color palate could soon make its way to Massachusetts Street, but first city commissioners will decide if this makeover is worth its 90-thousand dollar price tag. A fierce battle is set up Saturday night between the Jayhawks and the Texas Longhorns for the Big 12 title. Life in the fast lane is on its way to southern Leavenworth County. Kansas Turnpike officials announced plans Friday to build an interchange at I-70 and Leavenworth County Rd. 1.
A local non-profit moves into a new home on west 31st St. Friday. The second time is the charm for students at a local elementary school. A convicted killer and the woman accused of helping him escape from Lansing correctional facility have been captured in Tennessee. Earlier this season Lawrence High was the favorite at home, but being the favorite in the city's showdown is not always a good thing. Senior night at Eudora the Cardinal boys challenge DeSoto, starting on top and remaining that way at the end of the game the Cardinals finish on top, 63-58. It's too good to be true, Lawrence police are warning area residents about bogus coupons circulating around town. A 29-year-old Lawrence man is arrested and is accused of knowingly exposing a woman to a life threatening disease. Best girls team in our area, Tonganoxie High lady Chieftains took on the Bobcats in Basehor Friday night. Volunteer firefighters fought this afternoon to contain a large grass fire burning on the west side of Clinton Lake. With three games left in the conference, Saturday's game against Texas is the Big 12 championship game.
Piper boy's celebrated senior night battling the Chargers. In the lead most the game, the Pirates pull it though defeating the Chargers, 59-49.
