Lawrence residents experienced the opening of the new ice rink, the annual Bizarre Bazaar arts and crafts market and the arrival of Santa Friday, Nov. 28.

The rink, which opened Friday for the first time, is about 60 feet by 80 feet and is made of synthetic ice, a plastic-like surface usable in all types of weather. The rink will operate for eight weeks from Thanksgiving through the second week in January.
