Friends & Neighbors for December 2012
The Altrusa Club of Lawrence recently received a $2,000 grant from Altrusa International to help support the club’s Born to Read program. Special events chairwoman Sally Brandt presents the check to Mary Chappell, Altrusa president, and Diana Deutsch, Altrusa treasurer. Through the Born to Read program, every baby born at Lawrence Memorial Hospital is given a book from the Altrusa Club. To date, more than 10,000 books have been presented to new babies at LMH. Sammie Messick, of Lawrence, submitted the photo.
