Friends & Neighbors for April 2012
This photo, taken in 1970, shows longtime Theatre Lawrence patrons Bill and Barb Gaeddart, along with writer Robert Harling, who wrote the play “Steel Magnolias,” which opened in 1987 and is currently playing at Theatre Lawrence through Sunday. At the time of the photo, Bill Gaeddart, far left in the back row, was the director of the choir at the First Presbyterian Church in Natchitoches, La., which Harling, the tallest man in the back row, attended. Barb Gaeddart is seen second from left in the middle row. Harling wrote the play for his sister, Susan, at far right, who had diabetes. Kay Traver, of Lawrence, submitted the photo, which was provided by the Gaeddarts, who now live in the Lawrence area.
