High Street in downtown Morgantown, W. Va., is a lot like Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence: unique restaurants, quirky shops, professional offices, a historic hotel and seats of government. "And this is a family town, much like Lawrence is," says Michelle Sandrey, who earned her doctorate at KU and now serves on the faculty at West Virginia.

Kansas forward Thomas Robinson planted a tree for his mother, Lisa, in front of Wagnon Student Athlete Center, near Allen Fieldhouse. Lisa Robinson died Jan. 21 of apparent heart failure at the age of 42.
