Refrigerator Door for July 2011
Honoring veterans: Wes Powell, 17, in a World War I uniform, leads the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance at the June 25 dedication of the Veteran’s Monument in Lecompton. He is the son of Kevin Powell, Lecompton. Among the names on the monument were Powell’s great-grandfather, Englebert “Bert” Walters, who served in World War I, and his grandfather, Gerald Powell, who served in World War II.
