Refrigerator Door for July 2011
Honoring veterans: George Simmons, 90, rural Lecompton, accompanied by his wife, Arloene, wears his World War II Army uniform at the June 25 dedication of the Veterans Monument in Lecompton. His uniform was provided on behalf of the Lecompton Historical Society. George is a veteran of the South Pacific and Western Pacific Theatres of war. Over 900 names of veterans from the Lecompton, Stull, Big Springs and Kanwaka areas are represented on the monument. Rita Mock submitted the photo.
