Snow that blanketed the area had many area residents and business owners turning to technology to get their sidewalks clear on Jan. 20, 2011. Nate Bunn, Lawrence, needed some extra weight to keep his ATV on track near 19th and Massachusetts streets, so a friend, Stacy Tosh, Lawrence, hopped on the back.
City crews were on the streets early Jan. 20, 2011 in order to get the snow off of Massachusetts Street and other roads downtown. This winter, city officials hope a salt water solution applied before inclement weather will help keep roads clear.
Maintenance worker Chet Eisenhower had his light on while clearing the sidewalks Wednesday at Babcock Place, 1700 Mass. A snowstorm entered Lawrence Wednesday afternoon, dumping about five inches by evening with snow continuing to fall.
