The Lawrence Rotary Club is sponsoring four individuals to participate in a group study exchange to Australia on Sept. 28. From left are Ryan Wright, Sarah Laib, Chris Meier and Rotarian Pam Eglinski, team leader. Also participating, but not pictured, is Traci Fruit. Group study exchange gives four young professional non-Rotarians the opportunity to experience life and their professions in a foreign country for a month. A team from South Australia will be coming April 15-May 15 and will be primarily interested in learning about renewable energy in Kansas.

Team USA representative Brett Carey, of Lawrence, participated in the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships on Aug. 1 in Immenstadt, Germany. The triathlon, billed as the world’s toughest, included a 4k swim, 130k bike ride and 30k run. The championships will move to Silverman course just outside Las Vegas in 2011.
Communities In Schools of Kansas was presented a $5,000 donation check from Deluxe Corporation on Aug. 4. The donation will support the general operation budget of Communities In Schools of Kansas. Leatherman and Martin-Wilke represent Communities In Schools of Kansas and Webb and Huigens represent Deluxe Corporation.
