Yuliana Diaz, daughter of Jose and Angelica Diaz of Lawrence, had her picture taken Oct. 2 with the cast of The Wizard of Oz while attending the Ozfest in Wamego.
Capt. Pat Stuber, center, was awarded two Bronze Stars for combat missions in two deployments to Iraq in 2004 and 2010 at an Oct. 2 Combat Awards Ceremony held in Crossville, Tenn. Stuber is the commander of a tank company in the Tennessee National Guard. Also pictured, at left, is Stuber’s father, Al Stuber, Ph.D. Engineer (Navy retired) of Lawrence, and First Sgt. Dale Crockett, Tank Company, Crossville. Capt. Stuber lives with his wife, Suzan (both graduates of Kansas University), twin daughters Elaine and Alida, and twin sons Nick and Ben, in Cordova, Tenn.
Daniel Page, of Lawrence, enjoyed Wonders of the Canadian West during a two-week trip from June 9-20 as a student ambassador with People to People. Dwight D. Eisenhower launched the program in 1956 as an opportunity for students to bridge cultural and political borders through direct interaction, education and experiences. Daniel, 11, is the son of Cindy Lynn of Lawrence and a fifth-grader at Schwegler School. He has been selected to travel again as a student ambassador with People to People and will visit London and France in summer 2011.
