Members of Boy Scout Troop 61 watch as concrete fills a hole for a foundation for a cross, which is an Eagle Scout project of Dakota Zinn. The cross will be 25 feet tall with a red flame, set at the west campus of the First United Methodist Church near the U.S. Highway 40/Kansas Highway 10 interchange.
Dakota Zinn, front, and Drew Sheppard, both 14, help haul away dirt at the project site. Dakota planned the cross for his Eagle Scout project.
Members of Boy Scout Troop 61 spend Saturday morning at First United Methodist Church at US highway 40 and the K-10 bypass west of Lawrence digging a 9-foot-deep hole to set the foundation for a cross and flame. The project is part of a Eagle Scout project of Dakota Zinn, who has worked for 16 months on the project.
